As in our inaugural gala, proceeds benefit a local non-profit organization. This year, our benefactor is the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago and their Free Matinee Outreach Program, which annually reaches nearly 5,000 Chicago Public Schools' students who attend daytime film screenings during the Chicago Latino Film Festival.

Junior Achievement of Chicago
Latino Outreach Operations Manager

Reports To: Associate Director of Operations

Position Purpose:
The Latino Outreach Operations Manager implements and manages the daily operations of all Junior Achievement programs for a designated geographic/market area in the city of Chicago. Responsibilities include fundraising, class sales, volunteer recruitment, marketing and training. Assures that all administrative reports are accurate and current. Assists to increase public awareness. Insures program quality, expansion, and good school and business relationships.

Acquires the necessary financial resources to support programs through a variety of sources.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assures all program goals are met in geographic/market area. Supervises the placement and recruitment of all volunteers from companies and in organizations within geographic/market area.
  • Implements quality improvements to insure retention of volunteers is maintained. Provide hands-on service to all executive partners, consultants and teachers.
  • Consistently recruits and secures new opportunities of growth in volunteer and funding.
  • Assures that geographic area revenue goals are met. Successfully carries out contingency plan to make up for any shortfalls.
  • Maintains quality in reports by insuring the system is updated with accurate information on volunteers and companies in geographic/market area.
  • Assists Director with all program related Board Committees in carrying out their specific functions. Prepares material for Board and Committee meetings.
Education/Experience Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. At least one year of business experience. Proven oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities, be self-motivated and be highly organized. Computer knowledge in word processing and spreadsheet documents extremely helpful. Candidate must have a valid Illinois or Indiana driver's license and adequate vehicle transportation to meet the responsibilities of the position.

Energy Center - McCormick Place

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required. Minimum of ten (10) years experience in large campus facility operations environments that include central steam and chilled water production plants. Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience. Have a demonstrated knowledge and experience in overall utilities planning and design with the ability to write detailed technical reports on purchases and projects. Must have the ability to evaluate and make cost management recommendations, in developing and drafting requests for proposals, qualifications, and contract agreements. Knowledge of utility rate/cost structures and economic analysis as well as electric and natural gas purchasing practices and familiar with legislation on gas and electric utility rates. Considerable knowledge of finance, including ability to read and understand financial data. (MBA desired). Must possess functional understanding of Enterprise Information systems, utility plant controls and building system controls. Previous experience with an ammonia power plant desired. Must have strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with proven customer service capabilities as well as excellent organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize effectively. Ability to read and interpret plans and CAD drawings. Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software programs to handle reports and spreadsheets.

DUTIES: Establishes and maintains the highest standard of workplace safety for personnel in the Facility Services Department. Directs the activities of the Facilities Services Department to assure that the indoor environment of the MPEA Facilities is appropriate and supports the administrative and exhibition functions of each building. Assures a reliable supply of steam and chilled water to all MPEA Buildings and external customers. Works with the Procurement and Legal Departments to develop a strategy and draft terms and conditions to be included in all contracts, bid and RFQ/P documents for bulk commodity purchases of natural gas and electricity. Prepares Facility Services Department budget in accordance with MPEA budgeting practices and procedures and is responsible for tracking and monitoring of same. Develops revenue projections for external customers based on the contract terms as well as long range projections of the Facility Services financial performance including all operating and capital costs. Coordinates and manages capital and maintenance projects for the Facility Services infrastructure. Reviews and approves all drawings and plans for all MPEA infrastructure including buildings and for new external customer's facilities to assure the highest standard of quality control and the construction of highly reliable systems.

Responsible for overseeing the work of architects, engineers, and technicians and to supervise and inspect the work of contractors as well as to lead a department that includes engineers, technicians, operating engineers and crafts people in operating a complex campus facility. Retains and directs the efforts of consultants required to support the effective operation of the MPEA Facilities. Responsible for all processes and procedures within the Facility Services Department to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency. Must be willing and available to work a varied schedule including nights and weekends. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
