El Valor and NLU Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Cohort #7 - Little Village

El Valor and NLU are happy to report the beginning of another Masters in Business Administration (MBA) cohort in LITTLE VILLAGE!

This is part of El Valor's Leadership Through Education program which has as one of its goals to increase the number of qualified, culturally and linguistically skilled personnel in positions of leadership, especially individuals who can identify with the Latino community and other underserved communities. This program is offered in partnership with National-Louis University (NLU).

MBA courses in Little Village will begin in September 2010. The program lasts 33 months and covers subjects related to becoming an effective manager and leader. All classes will be held at El Valor Carlos Cantu Children & Family Center. No GMAT required. Just the writing test for which El Valor/NLU will provide a workshop in preparation. The cohort starts together and finishes together. Those that are accepted to this program by NLU, will be eligible to receive a scholarship from NLU & El Valor equivalent to 20% off the tuition.

Organization: Northeastern Illinois University Center for Diversity and Intercultural Affairs

Northeastern Illinois University is seeking an energetic and creative individual to promote the vision of diversity and enhance the social, cultural, educational and leadership development of Latino students. The director will be responsible for the development of programs and conferences that include enrichment activities that are targeted for successful enrollment and adjustment of Latino students, while enriching their educational experience and contributing to their academic and personal success in all University areas. The director will participate in an integrated department goal-setting process with the Director of the African, African American Cultural Resource Center, Director of the Asian American/Global Cultural Resource Center and other campus units related to the development of cultural competencies and cultural programming. Initiate innovative cultural programs and activities that foster appreciation and understanding of diversity. This position reports to the Associate Vice President and Dean for Diversity and Intercultural Affairs and requires an individual who is a leader and team builder. The successful candidate will recognize the importance of promoting the University vision of diversity and will have demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact with students, alumni, faculty, staff and the general public. The successful candidate will embrace and enhance the mission and role of an urban institution and be a person of the highest ethical standard.
