Teatro Luna, Chicago's All- Latina Theatre, Presents Solo Tu

Directed by Tanya Saracho; written by Desiree Castro, Diane Herrera, Coya Paz, and Tanya Saracho; featuring Yadira Correa, Dana Cruz, Marie Antoiniette Flores, Miranda Gonzalez and Suzette Mayobre

Teatro Luna takes the monologue form and kicks it up a notch. Drawing on the legend of "La Llorona" (a mythical Mexican figure eternally searching for her lost children) "Solo Tu" creates a haunting but sobering look at the joys and misconceptions of motherhood.

What critics are saying about Solo Tu...
"Sharp and searing...the writing is as sharp as any solo work I've ever seen in years-a treasure trove of gutsy, riveting truth telling." -Kerry Reed, Chicago Reader

Fiver Stars!

Teatro Luna's "most focused and potent work to date...and expert balance of anecdote and interior psychology, one liner-spiced street sass and earnest vulnerability...superb, highly differentiated performances." -TimeOut Chicago

La Noche del Son

The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago (MFDC) and GRAMMY® nominated Sones de Mexico Ensemble Chicago will present a spectacular show of regional Mexican dance and music.

MFDC is the oldest Mexican dance company in Chicago. It has performed for presidents Reagan, Clinton, Mexican president Vicente Fox and vice president Bush. It has appeared with Mariachi Vargas de Tecatitlan and with Pepe Aguilar. It has toured Mexico where it received rave reviews and in 2007 was chosen to perform at the largest Irish Folk Festival in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, just south of Dublin.

Sones has been nominated for a 2007 Latin GRAMMY®, a 2008 GRAMMY® and for a North American Folk Music & Dance Alliance Award for Best World Music Artist. The nominations were for its hit song "Esta Tierra es Tuya"; a Spanish version of Woodie Guthrie's "This Land is Your land". The song's Spanish words are as relevant today as the English words were seven decades ago. Today the Spanish words touch on the immigration dilemma.

The show also features Mariachi Real Guadalajara and a Conjunto Band.
